Andrew teaches two screenwriting workshops (one in film, one in TV) at The Ohio State University. In addition to working with students through early drafts of their original scripts, Andrew also lectures on today’s industry trends and expectations, as well as pathways to break into the industry.
Your voice and style will be what helps you stand out — and Andrew’s here to support you as your writing develops. He supports each individual student’s writing goals, no matter how ambitious or unusual they may be. Projects like Sinners, Obsession, Past Lives, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Broad City, Severance, The Owl House, Widow’s Bay, and so many others have proven that audiences everywhere are still connecting with fresh, original stories. The strongest screenwriters learn the rules, only to break them in service of their story.
Andrew’s been reading, writing, and editing screenplays since 2016. He holds an MFA in Screenwriting from University of Alaska Fairbanks, where he was also editor in chief of Permafrost literary magazine. He studied under the mentorship of Len Kamerling (The Drums of Winter) and worked as a development intern for Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder, Get Hard, Idiocracy). Andrew’s been a reader for the Austin Film Festival since 2019.
